Natalie Cooke is a physical therapist that has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics since 2012. Natalie specializes in functional movement screening, manual therapy techniques, golf-specific exercise, and physical therapy treatment to optimize golf performance. Graduating magna cum laude from West Virginia University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Natalie decided to pursue her education in a post-graduate degree from Florida Gulf Coast University graduating in the Spring 2012 with a doctorate in physical therapy. Natalie completed her post-graduate independent research on core strengthening to improve golf performance and then realized her desire to pursue golf-related rehab as a specialty.

Natalie has attained certifications through the Titleist Performance Institute, K-Vest 3D Technology, Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screening, and has taken

numerous other continuing education courses to further her manual therapy skills. Since attaining TPI certification in 2013, Natalie has been working with golf clients of all ages and capabilities to improve their overall performance and reduce risk for injury.

Brittany (Hagerty) Vass is a native of Friendly, WV. She graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training from Alderson Broaddus College, and she played volleyball during her 4 years at her under graduate school. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from West Virginia University in 2010 and then went on to complete a 2 year residency through Evidence in Motion with an emphasis in orthopedics. Brittany’s background has been primarily focused but not limited to orthopedics, and she has been working in the Parkersburg area since graduation. She also treats school aged children in Wood County Schools. Brittany is certified in Astym, FMS, SFMA, trigger point dry needling, various taping techniques, myofascial cupping, and compression flossing.

Brittany was previously involved with the Parkersburg High school volleyball team as a volunteer coach until she entered into Mom life! She remains available to the team for any consult on injury and have a strong love for the sport. Brittany is also very passionate about helping people across the spectrum, which is why physical therapy has been the optimal career for her.

Cassie Cochrane is a native of Charleston, WV. She graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University in 2007 and then received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010.

After graduating, Cassie and her husband Chris moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina where they spent the next 8 years. During that time, she developed a passion for treating patients with Parkinson's Disease and has been a certified LSVT BIG therapist since 2012. Cassie's neurological rehab practice continued to grow leading her to become a board certified Neurological Clinical Specialist (NCS) in 2014. Cassie is very experienced in treating patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis, vestibular disorders, dizziness, vertigo, balance impairments, post-concussion syndrome, post-stroke, peripheral neuropathy, and spine disorders. Cassie also has a strong background in orthopedics, post-operative rehab, and geriatrics.

In her free time, Cassie enjoys keeping up with her three daughters (5 year old Reagan and 1 year old twins, Haley and Lenna), taking family trips to Disney World, and cheering on the Mountaineers.

Tanya Cancade is a physical therapist with 20 years of experience specializing in women’s health, lymphedema, pediatrics, and orthopedics. Tanya was born in Minnesota and grew up in North Dakota. She graduated from Williston High School in 1991. Tanya graduated from the University of Mary in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitative Studies. She completed her Masters in Physical Therapy in 1998 also from the University of Mary. Tanya’s background is in outpatient rehabilitation which has allowed her to treat patients throughout their lifespan. She has a special interest in women’s health and lymphedema. Tanya completed coursework through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She attended the Lymphedema Management Seminar through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. Tanya also treats pediatric patients through the Wood County School system. She is certified in Astym, FMS, SFMA, trigger point dry needling, sEMG, and various taping techniques. When not working, Tanya can be found supporting her children at various sporting events, walking, and reading.

Jessica Balsley graduated from West Virginia University in 2006 with a B.A. degree in Human Performance and Health with the honor of Summa Cum Laude. In 2007, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University. She completed Evidence in Motion’s Orthopedic Residency in 2009 and obtained her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification in 2010. Jessica also received her Transition Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions in July 2011.

In her free time Jessica enjoys time in the outdoors on her property whether it be hunting, fishing, or riding on the UTV. She also enjoys time with her husband Ryan and their two dogs Macy and Finley.

Stephanie is a native of the Parkersburg area, and recently relocated back to this area 6 yrs ago. She graduated from Marietta College with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine in 1996 and from West Virginia University with her Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2000. She later received her Master in Physical Therapy in 2007 from West Virginia University and most recently she achieved her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Manual Therapy Certification from Evidence in Motion in 2021.

Stephanie has also completed the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy Training, Part A, B, C, and D. She is certified in trigger point dry needling, ASTYM, SFMA, FMS, and taping techniques.

Stephanie was voted "Best in the Valley" Physical Therapist by the readers of the Charleston Gazette Newspaper 2014. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys outdoor activities and loves spending time with her dog, Duke.

Gage is a Physical Therapist from Ripley. He graduated from West Virginia University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training where he worked with multiple teams including the women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and football teams. He then attended James Madison University to pursue his Master’s in Exercise Science with a focus in nutrition and physical activity.

While at James Madison University, he worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the football, men’s golf, and women’s swimming and diving teams. He decided to pursue his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and returned to his alma mater, graduating in 2021.

Gage has worked at all levels of sport from youth sports to the NFL. He specializes in treating sport related injuries and enjoys helping athletes of all ages return to action. He is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and Astym therapy.

In his spare time, Gage enjoys running, playing soccer, gardening, spending time with his friends and family, and cheering on his favorite sports teams - WVU and Manchester United.

Mistie Gaston-Smith is a physical therapist assistant who has been treating since 2016. A native of Parkersburg, she graduated summa cumme laude from Washington State Community College and is currently completing her Bachelor’s of Health Care Administration from Purdue University.

Mistie speacializes in Women’s Health and Lymphedema Management in which she is very passionate about. She also treats and is not limited to geriatrics, orthopedics, pediatrics, sports injuries, and wound management. Kayleigh has completed pelvic floor level one training through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation institute. She also has obtained certificates through RockTape for completing a basic taping course as well as the basic and advanced RockBlades courses.

Emily is a native of the Parkersburg area. She graduated from Washington State Community College and has over 20 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient with specializations in geriatrics and neuro. Emily received her Bachelor's degree from Ohio Valley University and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree from Marshall University.

Emily has always had a passion for treating patients with neurological involvement. She currently manages the Mid Ohio Valley Parkinson's Support Group and is teaching RockSteady Boxing at the Parkersburg YMCA. Emily is certified in LSVT BIG, Delay the Disease, and RockSteady Boxing for Parkinson's Disease, as well as FMS Level I, Rocktape and Rockblade.

Emily lives in Parkersburg with her husband Ryan and her three boys, Zach, Joe and Charlie. She has two Golden Retrievers who she enjoys spoiling rotten! You may even see Jake at our clinic every once in a while! Emily continues to teach classes at Washington State Community College whenever her schedule allows. In her spare time she enjoys cheering for her boys at various sporting and scholastic events, and attending WVU Mountaineer Football and Basketball games.

Mary Vesel is a speech language pathologist with 47 years of experience working with pediatrics, including newborns, and adults up to 103 years of age.

She was born in New York and lived in the Bronx, Long Island, New Jersey, Florida, Virginia and Ohio. She received her bachelor’s degree from the College of New Jersey and her master’s degree from William Patterson University in New Jersey. She has received awards 20 times from her national organization for extensive education.

She has worked in many settings including residential, hospital, subacute, outpatient and skilled nursing with such responsibilities as corporate, clinical consultant, Rehabilitation Director, and treating therapist. She was at the beginning of development for mobile Modified Barium Swallowing Studies in South Florida.

She specializes in dysphagia rehabilitation and neurogenic communication disorders, stroke rehabilitation, and LSVT LOUD for Parkinson’s disease.

Mary is certified in Vital Stim, Ampcare ESP for Dysphagia, LSVT LOUD since1995, McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program(MDTP).

She has specialized training in Debra Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, manual therapy, kinesiology, myofascial release, Lessac-Madden Resonant Voice therapy. She is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society.

Arriane Rauch was born and raised in Vincent, Ohio and is a local Warren High School graduate. After high school, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Allied Health from Otterbein University in 2019 and then received her Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree from Walsh University in 2021.

During her fieldwork experience at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, she developed a love for specialized conditions and rehabilitation of the upper extremity and looks forward to obtaining her hand therapy certification in the near future. After graduation, Arriane started her career in a long-term skilled nursing setting where she learned to help those with neurological and orthopedic conditions keep doing what they love the most.

In her free time, Arriane enjoys chasing her energetic Weimaraner puppy, farming and shed hunting with her husband, and coaching high school softball. Arriane has experience in the following settings: geriatrics, orthopedics, Air Force Base, and school systems.

Rachel Parsons is a native of the Seneca Rocks area of West Virginia but has called the Mid Ohio Valley her home since May of 2020. Dominique is a licensed physical therapist dedicated to helping individuals recover from injury, restore movement, and return to the activities they love. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, graduating cum laude from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2016, and went on to complete her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Wheeling Jesuit University in 2018.

Dominique is certified in FMS, SFMA, ASTYM, functional dry needling level 2, and pain neuroscience education, and is highly skilled in a variety of taping techniques. Her clinical experience has primarily focused on athletic and musculoskeletal injuries, but she is well-equipped to treat a wide spectrum of conditions across all age groups.

Passionate about sports, Dominique especially enjoys volleyball - as a coach, spectator, and former player. She grew up in Paden City, WV, and has been serving the Parkersburg community since completing her graduate studies. Outside of the clinic, she values her time with her husband and her three children, and is actively involved in her church community.

Dominique's approach to physical therapy is rooted in the belief that "moving well is living well." She finds great fulfillment in guiding her patients through their rehabilitation journeys and celebrating their hard work reaching their goals as they return to the activities that bring them joy.

Stacia is a clinician with 19 years of experience across all areas of physical therapy, including geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology, balance and gait, pediatrics, and pain management. She served as a clinical director for 10 years in a skilled nursing setting and was honored as the West Virginia Healthcare Association Clinician of the Year in 2018 for her exceptional work in skilled nursing care.

Stacia’s experience has led to her rural independent practice, Bodies in Rhythm, LLC. Through her independent practice, she has partnered with the nonprofit The Amputee Center, and she is also currently fulfilling her commitment to becoming an amputee specialist.

Beyond her professional achievements, Stacia is an avid sports enthusiast, a proud mother of three, and has been married for 20 years.

Deborah earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from Belleville Area College. She has over 20 years of experience working in outpatient therapy, treating a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Before specializing in outpatient care, Deborah also worked in home health, hospitals, and skilled nursing centers. She is certified in Aquatic Therapy, Ai Chi, Bad Ragaz, and PWR! Moves, and looks forward to continuing her education with more specialty certifications in the future.

Originally from Southern Illinois, Deborah moved to the Mid-Ohio Valley with her husband, Ashley, after his 25-year career in the U.S. Navy. They have two children and one grandchild who live in Raleigh, North Carolina. In her free time, Deborah enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing pickleball and golf, hiking, and reading.

Mary Kate Life is a Physical Therapist Assistant from Parkersburg, WV. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 2010 and from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Washington State Community College in 2014.

She’s been working in physical therapy for the past 11 years, mostly in orthopedics, but also with neurological patients and in skilled nursing. Mary Kate enjoys helping people get back to doing the things they love.

Outside of work, she stays busy raising her two kids, Olivia and Hudson, with her husband, Joey. She loves spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, adding new plants to her collection, and cheering on the Mountaineers.

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Kinetics from Ohio Wesleyan University, then went on to complete her Doctor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh.

During her fieldwork at UPMC and the VA, she discovered a strong passion for working with individuals in the neuro, low vision, and chronic pain populations. Although originally from New Jersey, Amanda has long-standing ties to the Mid-Ohio Valley through family and years of visiting the area. She is excited to bring her dedication to neurorehabilitation and chronic pain management to a community where these services are greatly needed.
